What is a Funeral Celebrant?

A Funeral Celebrant is a person who is trained and qualified to conduct a uniquely personalized tribute, ceremony or ritual at a funeral, memorial service or cemetery.  They are typically specialists in secular, (non-religious), services.

Faith-based or Spiritual content can be included in the Celebration of Life ceremony, if requested, however, Funeral Celebrants cannot enact specific religious rites, such as communion.

Roxanne Walsh works from the perspective that every life is meaningful and significant. The service or ceremony is created to truly reflect the life of the person being celebrated and to provide comfort to those who attend.

Roxanne begins by conducting a 2-3 hour interview with family and/or friends, asking questions and listening to the stories that capture important moments and why the person being celebrated was special to them.

Roxanne walks beside the family, working closely to co-create a ceremony that accurately reflects and honours the individual being celebrated.

Roxanne is respectful, sensitive and responsive to the needs that arise, even within complex family dynamics.

Roxanne is Certified as a Funeral Celebrant through the InSight Institute, located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
